2020 - what we're doing and how you can help

Several alumni from 2001 are working to get some early activities underway in 2020: 1. Get the steering committee up and running.   We've got an email group and invite other alumni to join us. Leave a comment if you're interested to join the steering committee, or contact Murray over Facebook.  2. Reach out to KHS community and alumni.  This is underway. I've met with the principal, careers adviser and other staff in March 2020. The next meetings are expected in April 2020. The principal has discussed the proposal with staff, and will raise it with the P&C in March. We're working at some messages for reaching out to alumni. 3. Deliver quick wins.  We're aiming for a pilot workshop in April and potentially another around June-July 2020. Do you want to be involved? Leave a comment or contact Murray over Facebook.  4. Read me first - Proposal for KHS Alumni Association

Dear KHS community Below is a brief rationale and some initial ideas for establishing a formal alumni association. If you don't read all of it, here are a few things alumni can do: Give back to the school - through mentoring, workshops, fundraising, scholarships  Inspire current students to think about their careers, by demonstrating multiple pathways to careers, and promoting an inclusive concept of success Help teachers and parents to promote the value of education Share their stories of resilience and mentor students experiencing difficulties  Encourage leadership  Instil a sense of pride in Kempsey and the school comunnity.  It's long overdue for KHS alumni to set up a formal organisation, with the aim of giving back to the school, supporting new graduates and inspiring the next generation of KHS students.
